Job Description:
Delivering high-quality software at scale requires robust automation, efficient tooling, and reliable release processes. As a Software Engineer I – Dev Tooling at Sumo Logic, you will be part of the Release Engineering team, where you will contribute to building and maintaining automated systems that power the deployment of multiple services.
In this role, you will work on developing scalable CI/CD pipelines, internal platforms, and tooling solutions that enable engineering teams to deploy independently and confidently. Your contributions will directly support Sumo Logic’s vision of strengthening its internal Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and enhancing software delivery across the organization.
This is an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers who are passionate about DevOps, automation, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices.
Technical Skills Required:
Fundamental knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and build automation.
Exposure to CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
Hands-on experience with at least one programming language: Java / Scala / Golang / Python / JavaScript.
Basic familiarity with JavaScript and modern web technologies; experience with React.js or Node.js is an added advantage.
Working knowledge of build and package management tools like npm, Gradle, Make, or similar.
Understanding of Cloud Computing platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (project or academic exposure acceptable).
Experience with scripting languages like Bash or Python.
Awareness of containerization and orchestration concepts including Docker and Kubernetes.
Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or GitOps tools like ArgoCD is a plus.
Strong interest in DevOps, automation, developer productivity tools, and release engineering.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining automated release pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
Build and enhance internal developer tools that streamline coding, testing, deployment, and debugging processes.
Collaborate with senior engineers to implement DevOps best practices and improve software delivery efficiency.
Participate actively in code reviews, design discussions, and technical troubleshooting sessions.
Create and maintain clear technical documentation for tools, systems, and workflows.
Support engineering teams by diagnosing pipeline failures and resolving tooling-related issues.
Continuously explore and adopt new technologies to improve the overall developer experience.
